I am using ver 3.1.0.1200. I have the same problem. I can't download youtube videos. For example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUlbK9GD9ck cannot be downloaded.
But another computer having a older version of 4k works fine.
I've had a similar problem. Downloaded several hundred videos after making the purchase and had no issues downloading playlists and individual videos.
But now nothing will download. I've tried changing the smart-mode path, removing the videos from the 4K Video app, moving the downloaded videos to another directory. No downloads will complete now. Resuming "unfinished" downloads fails too.
A video or two may start downloading but they just hang after only a few seconds.
1. Please check your firewall and antivirus settings, it can block the download and parsing sometimes.
2. Reboot your computer and start again.
3. Set up Intensity on Safe mode in Preferences to be protected from YouTube IP ban.

Hi, I purchased 4Kdownloaded today and have not been able to download ANY video not even from 4Kdownload.com. It just will not parse. Nothing. Always says error. I have no firewall preventing it. I've rebooted and just cannot get it to work. I'm beginning to think this product is a big con and waste of money
This used to work like a charm in Windows 7, but doesn't parse pasted URLs in Windows 8.1. Just gives a message saying 'Error' with no further information.
I used to love 4K, but the last two versions have been unable to download YouTube videos on my Win7 system. 4K appears to parse the url. The green download bar appears, and seems to progress to the end. At the last second, the "Error: can't download" message appears. Happens to every youtube url, no exceptions. I swear I have no conflicting programs, and no Youtube Accelerator. Intensity setting at 1 (safe). Disabled firewall, no antivirus, restart, same result. Very disappointing.
Well, it's me again, this time to report that 4K has started downloading now! I had tried it so many times over the last couple of weeks without success, and today I thought of trying one last time before uninstalling it and using an alternative tool. When I pasted the URL, it gave me a message out of the blue saying I had unlocked some "Newbie" badge for downloading some number of files through 4K. Once I dismissed the message, it actually went ahead and downloaded my file.
So the lesson here is that if it's not been working for you, just keep feeding it loads of URLs until you unlock this badge. At that stage you may be lucky like me to have it finally work.
It started happening to me too, the last couple of days, after months of using it every day with no problems. The same happens using alternative programs that used to work flawlessly for me so I think the problem might be related to some change on youtube, although I can't rule out that something on my system has changed and it is now interfering with the parsing process for all the programs... If anybody knows something please post it...
Is there any way to know the progress of parsing?> RealPlayer shows the rate of the download, so you have some idea - but after just downloading 4k, it says 'Parsing...' but you know zero idea how much time it will take. I was waiting 20 minutes for a download, eventually had to give up,PC was overhearting.
Am I missing some button to press to show the progress?
I have the same problem, and neither rebooting or reinstalling has fixed it. Specifically, it rests on “Parsing Video” forever. I know it is not a connection issue or IP ban, since I am actually viewing the video on YouTube directly instead.
i've had the same problem for a few months and i was hoping the updates would fix it but i just figured out you just need to change the folder you save the videos to something else and surprisingly it worked. you can all thank me later
What you do is "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR' by right clicking on it ,,,and it will work fine...

I was having the same problem, however, i noticed that my save location had been changed in the smart converter (to /users), I selected a proper location and it has since been working,
[Hope this helps. Once you change it, you do not need to use smart converter all the time obviously. An update may have changed the save location]

I did notice 4k had changed the folder videos were downloaded to also, but didn't think that mattered. Maybe there is some kind of limit as to how many videos are in a folder? This happened after I downloaded a huge number of youtube video tutorials.
NOTE: also in the Smart Mode: set the video quality to "original". if you set it at the highest quality and the video doesn't have that, it'll have problems.
I faced the same problem. Videos or playlists wont parse.. My problem got solved. I had speedbit video accelerator installed. That was preventing 4k downloader from parsing.
1. Exit video accelerator
2. Exit 4k downloader
3. Start Task manager and go to processes and exit 4kdownloader process tree
4. Restart 4k downloader and paste the link
I tried everything, but it still doesn't work. I don't know how to change the location on 4K video downloader either. I have been struggling for about a week now. It was all perfect before though. Can someone please help me? It's making me frustrated...
I had this problem too. Disabled my firefox add-ons and is now OK. Suggest you disable each add-on and re-try until it works. The last add-on disabled is the culprit.
I've downloaded a whole playlist of about 208 videos. I downloaded them in .mp4 with 720p resolution. But, when download completes, only one video is in .mp4 format and all others are in .dat format and can'not be played on VLC.

I have the same issue - on Mac - new install of licensed product. Tried everything mentioned above. 4K worked yesterday, and it no longer works today. I reverted back to the previous version of the software - it's just stuck at "retrieving information" and will not download any URL.
...I think at the end of the day the 4k IT team can`t solve this issue as youtube HAS changed its foramat, the so-called "New" version does not work, and that came out in 2013!......
I was running 4k on MAC and I faced similar problem. After disabling the firewall and removing avast I rebooted and that seems to have fixed it. Suggest you look into that.
Guys, please find below the troubleshooting actions if you can't download or parse link!
- Firstly, please check your firewall or antivirus settings, try to switch off it completely and download something.
- Try to change the output folder in Smart Mode settings or just after the parsing.
- Check if you can play this video in your region in browser, otherwise use proxy settings in the app.
- Try in another Wi-Fi Network in case of YouTube IP ban.

No, I have just de-installed it. Anyway there were not many downloads for me, I am using Clipconverter that is far better behaving and free than this paid version.
Whenever I try downloading youtube videos it's just parsing forever and won't stop. Vimeo downloads work flawlessly at the same time. I tried uninstalling and installing the newest version, I tried changing Intensity and Connection speed but nothing worked. Anybody have any ideas what might be wrong?
If you are struggling with 4K Video Downloader's 'Can't parse link' problem, please try the following steps, one of these will solve the problem:
1. Check what version of software is installed on your computer. Upgrade if there is a newer one on our website.
2. Be sure the link you are trying to download is from the site that is supported by the application. Here is the link to all the sites you can download videos from with 4K Video Downloader: https://www.4kdownload.com/faq/faq-what-sites-are-supported
3. Reboot your computer and try downloading again.

Can i use a program like Ccleaner for this, or do i have to manually go into the "regedit" stuff??? If i remember it correctly, this is kinda complicated...
You cannot use CCleaner for this, you need to run regedit, where you will see a list of programs you have installed. Find 4K Download application folder and delete it. It's manual work for sure, but it's not as complicated as it may seem at first.
I repeat - your software stopped working after ~36hours - and ID LIKE MY MONEY BACK... Answer please..! Its been a while since i asked, and nobody is making much attempts to give me some sound advice that actually works. This is the worst software ive ever paid for. As this software have a habit of stopping working after a SHORT time, i should have been told this in the process of buying it. This is not what i paid for. Customer service gives me a whole list of things to do which only wastes my time, as not a single one of these things actually makes a difference (at least on my computer)... GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK... Fixed it. It was the firewall. Try a uTube download and then quickly turn OFF your firewall (for a brief time). The Dload started fine. Hope yours works too. Fix the firewall permissions and turn it back on again of course.
No Matter what I do..slow it down or change the address after a few moments the download
stops and I get an "error cannot download" response.
I have tried several times...I am beginning to think that either Youtube, or the ISPs are
blocking 4K Downloader.

I had a problem for an evening. The program would start to get information, hang for a while. then just "Error". The next day I tried with http instead of https, and the program works again. Not sure what the error was or if it will return.
4K Downloader has stopped working for me altogether, it won't download any youtube videos. My firewall is off and I have tried using a vpn to no avail. I paid money for this so I expect a solution, thanks.
This program is a fucking joke. I tried it in 2012 and the SAME PROBLEMS exist 6 years later. Half the time it will not even open. You can re-download the software and still won't open You click the "repair" option and it does nothing. You have to reboot your computer every 15 minutes because the program will freeze. It took me 4 hours to download about 100 videos. I could have manually done that in about 20 minutes and half of were incomplete.When you can download videos it "parses" them first which takes hours then "retrieves information" to download them at a snails pace even with high speed internet. No one should be charging money for software that doesn't work. Stating this service downloads full channels is false advertising, maybe in theory it might but not in practice. This program should not even be on the market for free until the bugs are ironed out. Don't waste your time or your money.
I had just started using this downloader and was loving it, but as soon as I updated it, i am having the same issues. Error and Error: Cant download. I use a mac so cant do some of the suggestions. Please give me suggestions for Mac!!!
This was such an awesome program I decided to purchase it. 4K Downloader worked perfect and flawlessly on Win 7. Now that I have finally went to Win 10, all I get is parsing errors. I have tried everything in the lists above also. I am about ready to delete it and find something else, what a shame. The reason I paid for it in the first place was because it used to work so good. Disappointing. This program should work out of the box or get updated more often. It looks like these problems have been going on for a very long time. :-(

it wasn't the FIREWALL settings, it was the [updated] save folder location (c:\users or whatever) which didn't seem to exist, or maybe it does? --idk, I just wasn't going to be bothered chasing that up for a faulty piece of software, i'd just uninstall it, the internet is full of crap software and maybe this is just more crap software? anyway, changing the save path location to the former location did the trick & shit is now downloading again somehow-- straight through my firewall settings that I manually set to OFF!? so.. idk, maybe this software was developed by Houdini or something? gz.
I am unable to parse ANY youtube video, I shut my firewall off, run on safe intensity and have tried changing file location as well as save location,I have purchased the program as well. version I have is 4.9.0.3032. I am unaware of how an IP ban from youtube would work, although i assume its not the problem as i can still access youtube just fine from all my browsers.
If you are suddenly getting errors when parsing videos, there is a 99.9% chance that Youtube blocked your IP from downloading - Use a VPN to change your IP address, and try downloading again - This is the ONLY thing that worked for me!
The recent update worked for a little while and then I got blocked again. I think it is some kind of new filter. Additionally, when I tried to browse the link from another browser it made me go through a captcha because of the number of queries. Apparently something is going on. Hopefully there is a way around it. I think that even a VPN will have limited success as they catch on to it and block that IP also, thus requiring another destination IP.
I first contacted 4K on Tue 11/19/2019 1:44 AM in an E-Mail that nearly 100% of all downloads do not work and software displays “Error” ONLY – NO DETAILS – NO DESCRIPTING,,,NOTHING ELSE.
The 4K software would always show my 4K software version was up to date and I had the latest version (WHICH WAS NOT TRUE, THERE WAS A NEWER VERSION 4.10.1.3240)… I PHYSICALLY VIEWED THE 4K WEBSITE AND download this newer version AND INSTALLED IT.
I activated 4K on Wed 10/30/2019 11:46 AM.
THE NEW VERSION WORKED FOR 3 OR 4 DAYS ONLY AND I CONVEYED THIS TO THE 4K STAFF.
Nothing but chronic problems since I activated the software.

Much like others' have experienced here, 4k stopped working for me (parsing/download errors) once I went from a win 7 to a win 10 machine. I also tried all the common troubleshooting stuff like turning off the firewall, smart screen filter, A/V, etc., ONLY after adding exceptions and rules to allow the program to run failed to work. The only solution I found that restored functionality was to run the program in a Windows 10 sandbox session (Win 10 Pro machine). Obviously, this is a crude and cumbersome work around that is not practical in the long run. Why it works in this mode and not the normal desktop is beyond me... just thought I'd share this tidbit.
I was able to get past my download errors (mostly remux errors and can't download file message on retry) by re-pasting the link, and it safely downloaded under (2) appended to the file name. Only this fixed it for me, deleting the partially downloaded file did not. It seems that 4K downloader is keeping some state for the download, which makes it unable to continue.
