Is there a good reason why support for Yosemite was dropped for the newest releases of 4K Video Downloader?

Is there a good reason why support for Yosemite was dropped for the newest releases of 4K Video Downloader? I know Yosemite is an older Mac OS version, but some people (like me) still use it. I have a Hackintosh, and updating can be kinda sketchy sometimes. I'd rather stick with a build that runs well, than risk breaking it. I figure, I'll upgrade when I build a replacement machine. Once I have new hardware, running a new OS, I'll come back to this and try to upgrade it (for purposes of a secondary machine.

Anyway, I'm just curious what the general justification is to drop older OS support? Is it a matter of going with new OS features that Yosemite doesn't have, or it it just check boxes unchecked, to reduce testing? I'd be happy with an "as-is" release as long as it could run on Yosemite. I paid for this software, cause I think it's the best out there for downloading videos. I'd love to be able to continue using it. the older version I'm stuck on still works... most of the time, but I keep seeing more and more videos that resist downloading.
