4K stogram x64 eating more than 1GB of system memory

Tried out the x64 version of 4K Strogram - is there a way to optimize its RAM usage - any reason as to why it seems to eat almost 3x what the x86 version uses as memory?

If there isn't any performance or stability benefits that are found significant enough for the x64 version to be set apart from the x86 version, doesn't that mean that it does not need to go the "Google Chrome eats all RAM because we're too busy to optimize' path of devs
