Update Notification Locks up my screen

For awhile, the Update notification just didn't work. Told me I need to manually download every update. Now the notification pops up and locks up my screen. The only way I can get rid of it is to use Task Manager. Windows 7 Pro. If you are going to force these update notifications on us, then they don't work, then they lock up the screen, you need to do more testing before you release. This kind of crap drives away customers!
